Foundation Day!!

          One of the most anxiously awaited occasions in any school is its annual day. Great excitement and hurried activities are visible all around. The prize-winners and those who are participating in the program activities to be presented on that day are especially elated. Even those who are not actively, involved are excited to have a study-free day in school, filled with fun, frolic and amusement.


          The preparations for the annual day begin much ahead of the day itself. The school gets a complete face-lift with all the classrooms thoroughly cleaned and charts on all subjects, carefully made by the students and artistically displayed on the walls. This is done to impress the Chief Guest, other guests and parents. The venue of the function is decorated with Writings, balloons, banners and lights.

          Another important feature of the preparation is the regular practice session of the field demonstration. Students, participating in the dance, drama and music programs, are called for long rehearsals. Again, those who have stood first in class in academics and various inter-class and inter-school competitions, are made to undergo the actual practice for the day through a mock-session, so that they know how to conduct themselves in the presence of the august audience. The long-awaited day, finally, arrives and everyone seems to be immensely busy and hectic, rushing here and there for one reason or the other. All, including the principal, the teachers and the participants in the cultural programmes seem greatly excited and worried. Those who are supposed to come to the stage tremble in excitement and fear. The rest of the students help to arrange the stage and look forward to a day of fun and frolic.

         The last to come is the National Anthem, at the tune of which, all those who are present stand in attention. Then there is a controlled movement towards the exit. Parents wait outside for their children. Those who have won prizes and those who have performed on the stage are lovingly received by their parents. Finally, everybody goes home, bidding adieu to each other.

Kannawidan Festival "Insights"

This festivity has a great impact to the people for it shows how their province live and lines. Traders, Kannawidan is a place, an activity and a way of how their living worked and works. And for the community, Kannawidan is the best place to enjoy nature gifts. It is the best place to create a coalescing community. Kannawidan is a place showcasing talents, brains, beauties, and creative hospitality that we are Filipinos especially Ilocano’s have.

         Ilocos Sur, our very own province has rich and stunning cultures and traditions that we Ilocanos must be proud of. In order to showcase these, we have important festives just to exhibit and promote products of ours and precious cultures of Ilocanos to attract and invite tourists to come and visit Ilocos. One of these is the Kannawidan Ylocos Festival which is a week-long festive of happiness for local and foreign tourists as more entertaining events are included in the celebration. The Kannawidan Ylocos Festival had already established its identity as the prime festival of the province.The province has a rich heritage and unique cultures that need to be preserved for the next generations. However, many of these traditions, songs, dances and other Ilocano cultures were not already familiar to the younger generations due to the influence of the television, computer and internet. 


This is such a great and important occasion for all the Ilocanos. Because this is the time to reminisce our past, our culture and to treasure it for this is our identity. This is who we are, Ilocanos.

Change: Starts with me

         One of the most unpleasant feelings one can experience in life is being discontent with oneself. Whereas we are prone to notice negative features in other people, we rarely turn our eyes on ourselves to critically evaluate our behavior or personal qualities. But if we do, we can notice many traits within ourselves we would not like to be there. I try to stay tolerant towards the majority of my personality features. Though, simultaneously with my positive qualities, I can be a lazy, irresponsible, apathetic downer. I learned to live with these and other drawbacks; but the trait that I would enjoy getting rid of is my tendency to doubt my decisions.

        The power of the mind is truly magnificent. We have come so far and learned so much, yet are still unable to unlock all the secrets of the human psyche and the human brain. The sad truth is that most people don't bother to think about things like this, most people don't realize the power that they have, the power to change the world.

        If you want progress, then you need change-you need to be the change. Cut all the extra junk that you have taking too much part in your life; keep things simple. Pick a mold for yourself to focus on positive thoughts, thinking of the way you want things to go-focusing on the reaction, the effect, that you wish to cause.

New Year, New Me

       
          We all think of the new year as something. It seems to offer us a fresh start, a chance to forget about what troubles are behind us. At the moment that the clock hits twelve, we all let out a breath and grin. A new year. A new start. We enter the new year prepared. We have a list of resolutions in our head, and we're sure that this is the year we'll make unforgettable. This is year we fix everything that's wrong. The date January 1 is full of promise, full of hope. 

          However, at the end of the year, we are always left unsatisfied. No matter how well the year goes, we are always left wanting more. We always think, 'Oh, I should have done this,' and, 'I could have done that.' So, going into the new year, we have a new list of resolutions stockpiled in our head. It's an infinite cycle; we make resolutions, yet we never seem to keep them. We see the new year as a way to start over – to create a new you. 

        You might wish there was some kind of magic to carry out your decisions, promises and goals. There is, and it is made of motivation, persistence, willpower and self-discipline. These are the powers that would change your life and make them interesting, happy and fulfilling. "Every day is a new beginning. Treat it that way. Stay away from what might have been, and look at what can be."

Christmas is all about LOVING!

         Christmas to me is a celebration, which includes spending time with my family, decorating the entire house, inside and out, and shopping, for the people i love. Doing this with the people i love is what means the most to me. 

          Spending Christmas with my family is very important to me. We usually gather and celebrate at my parent's house, in caoayan. My parents and i travel at Baggoc, caoayan. We spend the day baking cookie, making fudge and preparing a big christmas dinner, with all the trimmings. My cousins love to see each other. They spend the day playing games and sharing their new gifts and tags. They get so eager to decorate, that is hard to strain them.

       I feel so fortunate, to have my family throughout the year, but especially, at christmas time. When showing my family just how much i love them and what exactly they mean to me. Christmas for me is about being with my family, loving each other and showing each other just exactly how we all feel.

WE ARE ALL EQUAL!!

         We, human beings, have formed a society based on certain rules that govern our actions and behavior. We share mutual resources and while building up our lives we commit innumerate amount of decisions everyday that lead us to differing paths. Some of us are more successful than others due to various reasons. Many people question whether the success someone has experienced is due to hard work and entitlement or simple luck. Success itself is a vague concept and has its own connotations for everyone. It may mean love, power, resources or anything else. A centuries old debate for societies has been whether the ‘success’ is distributed fairly across its members. If it is due to luck, then why is person A more privileged than person B who would result unhappy. Person A obviously replies that he/she is worth it and has worked hard for the followed success. Person B, on the other hand, is unsatisfied because he sees that he was not at the right place at the right time when the success happened demanding a compensation, in other words, equality. It is hard to find anyone who would oppose the notion of equality. The difficulty arrives when questions such as equality between whom and equality of what arise with diverging opinions. In political ideologies debate, we may identify the two main approaches to equality. Liberals advocate the equality of opportunity such that every members of society should be allowed to have a same starting position in order to equally complete for the advantages. Socialist, quite the contrary claim that a civilization is about the equality of outcomes and that citizens of one community should eventually have similar living standards or access to resources.

      Kung ang isang bata ay lalaking disiplinado at maprinsipyo, siya ay magiging inspirasyon at magiging marangal na ehemplo sa iba kaya napakalaking papel ang ginagampanan ng responsableng pagiging magulang. Nakabatay sa tamang pag-aaruga angt kaunlaran at kahihinatnan mg isang bansa.
